Jamun, also known as Indian Blackberry or Java Plum, is a succulent summer fruit enjoyed throughout India since time immemorial—not merely for its delicious juiciness but for the many medicinal benefits offered by the vinegar made from its juice.
• Dosha Balancer: According to Ayurveda, Jamun Shirka maintains a balance between three doshas, i.e. vata, pitta, kapha, which are responsible for the proper functioning of the body’s many systems.
• Controls diabetes: – Jamun Cider Vinegar lowers blood sugar levels by efficiently converting starch and sugar into energy. Consuming Jamun vinegar at night is especially useful in lowering fasting blood sugar levels. It also reduces discomfort like frequent urination, increased thirst, nausea, and weakness.

• Good for skin: - Jamun vinegar’s astringency, along with its high Vitamin C, iron, and other nutrients, is a veritable elixir for skin problems. Regular use combats pimples and acne, and reduces dark spots and patches.
• Improves Vision: – Vitamins A, C, iron, and other nutrients in vinegar help reduce eye problems like itching and redness, and prevent cataract formation.
• Improves digestive system: – Jamun’s antibacterial, antimicrobial properties kill bad bacteria, effectively improving the functioning of the digestive system.

Used carefully Jamun Vinegar is quite safe but excessive use could lead to the following side effects:

• Burning sensation in the lower end of alimentary canal
• Hypokalaemia (low potassium level in the blood) – very rare and can only occur with a dosage more than 100 ml per day.

Maximum possible dosage (adults) - 30 ml per day (in 3 divided doses of 10 ml each)
Jamun Vinegar (Jamun Sirka) is best taken immediately after a meal. One can take it twice or thrice a day with water equal to the dosage.
