I am Dr. Suresh Vikram Bharambe, a 65-year-old general practitioner from Bhusawal. Being a doctor myself, I believed I understood diabetes well until it personally entered my life.

Key Takeaways
  • HbA1c reduced from 7 to 5.8 in 3 months
  • Stopped diabetes medication completely in 2 months
  • Maintained stable weight and digestion
  • Honest, realistic experience with the program

My Diabetes Story

My diabetes was detected during a routine medical check-up, after I started experiencing fatigue and exhaustion.

There were no dramatic symptoms, no complications, no major warning signs.

My mother had diabetes later in her life, so I was aware that genetics could play a role.

Initially, I managed diabetes with a single 5 mg tablet daily. My HbA1c was around 7 at the time.

How Was FFD Introduced & Why I Joined

As a medical professional, I approach any health program with caution. I joined Freedom From Diabetes to see how a structured lifestyle-based program works in real life, beyond theory.

I wanted to observe whether disciplined food habits and exercise could help me manage diabetes without dependency on medicines.

My Journey with FFD

During the program, I was able to stop diabetes medication completely and remained medicine-free in nearly two months.

Over time, my HbA1c steadily improved, coming down to around 5.8 and currently holding at 6.

Since my BMI was already on the lower side, my weight remained stable throughout the journey.

I did not have major issues with digestion or sleep earlier, and both continued to remain normal.

I am still taking cholesterol medication, which is now under medical review for a possible discontinuation.

What Changed and What Didn’t

I believe in sharing my journey honestly and realistically.

While my weight remained stable and my daily routine felt largely familiar, the most meaningful change was achieving stable blood sugar control without the need for diabetes medication.

Along the way, I gained deeper clarity around food choices and exercise, and even moments of doubt became learning points.

Overall, the journey strengthened my discipline, awareness, and confidence in managing my health proactively.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Today:
  • I remain off diabetes medicines
  • My sugar levels are stable
  • I follow a more conscious routine
  • I continue medical consultations for cholesterol management
As a doctor, I believe everybody responds differently, and not every journey looks dramatic. Stability itself can be a success.

Key Quote

“Diabetes does not always announce itself loudly. Sometimes, maintaining stability without medicines is itself a meaningful outcome.”
