- Profession - Homemaker

Hello all,
I’m Sabiha Honpode, a homemaker living in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. I used to be a teacher abroad, but made a conscious choice to return to India in 2001 to raise my children and care for my elderly mother. For the last two decades, I’ve taken pride in my role as a homemaker, a full-time job, and one I hold with deep responsibility.
But my journey with diabetes has been long and difficult, full of quiet courage, deep setbacks, and, finally, a transformation I never thought possible, all thanks to Freedom From Diabetes (FFD).
Key Takeaways
- Off insulin completely (26 units stopped)
- Weight loss: 20 kg (from ~70 kg to 49.5 kg)
- Medications significantly reduced
My Diabetes Story
My first encounter with diabetes began 26 years ago as gestational diabetes during my son’s birth. The sugar levels were mildly high, and doctors simply advised dietary caution. I didn’t receive much follow-up guidance, so I believed the problem had passed.
But over the years, especially after moving back to India, I started falling ill more often. Eventually, my sugars soared, fasting sugar reached nearly 200 mg/dL, and post-lunch went above 300. I had developed full-blown diabetes, with no roadmap to manage it.
My father had diabetes, too, and eventually lost his hearing due to diabetes-related nerve damage. So I knew how serious the condition could become.
Living with Complications
Despite taking three different types of diabetes medications and 26 units of insulin daily, my sugars remained high. The situation worsened in 2019 when I suffered a brain stroke it affected the entire left side of my body.
I was hospitalized in the ICU and lost balance and coordination, especially in my left leg. Even today, I walk with care and cannot walk alone due to the risk of falling.
Athletic activities like cycling or running remain a dream. But I keep trying and has been my biggest support in rehabilitation.
Discovering FFD
In the middle of this storm, I came across a YouTube video by Dr. B.M. Hegde, where he mentioned a doctor from Pune Dr. Pramod Tripathi who was actually helping people reverse diabetes.
That video changed everything.
I researched further and found FFD. Hope sparked again, and I joined HTP Batch 86 in 2022.
Reversal Story
With strong support from my FFD expert team, I began following the protocols sincerely. On 14th February 2023, I got the best Valentine’s Day gift of my life. I was told to stop insulin.
It was an unforgettable moment. I even remind my doctor of it fondly every year.
Soon after, my oral medications were also tapered. I’m still on a small dose and aiming to clear my Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) to complete my reversal.
My Transformation Team
I owe my progress to a dedicated team that stood by me with compassion and skill:
Dr. Saloni Mehta – My consulting doctor
Niyati Sathe – My brilliant and patient diet expert
Somashri Bhattacharya – My encouraging exercise expert
Dr. Neha Sukhantankar – My app expert and consistent motivator
They guided me through every doubt and helped adjust my plan post-stroke limitations.
Knowledge, Not Just Weight Loss
At the start, I weighed nearly 70 kg. Today, I’m at 49.5 kg, a massive 20 kg loss. But the greatest gain has been knowledge.
Thanks to FFD, I now understand what to eat, when to eat, and how to regulate my health. I’ve become a guide to others in my family suggesting lifestyle changes, offering tips, and sharing FFD’s wisdom.
Inner Transformation & Emotional Healing
I have interacted with Ms. Paromita and Ms. Udita during Inner Transformation sessions. As someone with a life full of early hardships and emotional burden, journaling and reflection have been difficult but praying five times a day keeps me centered.
My faith is my meditation. My heart feels lighter now, and I’ve started to slowly believe in emotional healing.
Current Lifestyle & Outlook
I continue to follow my plan, attend FFD sessions, and grow steadily. I rejoined as part of Batch 111 and enrolled in the Annual Care Program in 2024.
I missed my recognition at Muktotsav 2024, despite submitting everything on time, which was disappointing. But my commitment to health hasn’t wavered.
I’m still aiming for GTT clearance, and this time, I hope to be celebrated with that stage medal in hand.
