My Diabetes Story
I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012 while living in the United States. A minor fall, followed by persistent tiredness, led to a health check that revealed high blood sugar.
At that time, I was constantly traveling four days a week across the U.S. living out of hotels, eating poorly, and barely exercising.
How FFD Was Introduced
My weight climbed to 90 kg, and my schedule left little room for rest or self-care. With no family history of diabetes, this diagnosis was a wake-up call.
The turning point came when my cousin, Ravi Prakash from Chennai, an FFD participant and GTT-certified for two consecutive years shared his success.
Inspired by his journey, I decided to join FFD with clear goals: become medicine-free, lose weight, and regain my athletic lifestyle as a former marathon runner.
Reversal Story
Within just six months of joining FFD, I stopped all my diabetes medicines. My HbA1c dropped from 8.4 to 6.2, and I shed 20 kg, bringing my weight down to 70 kg. This transformation wasn’t just physical; it brought back my energy, flexibility, and confidence.
Today, I maintain my weight between 70–71 kg and keep my sugar levels in check through mindful eating, fasting, and regular workouts.
Fasting & Dietary Discipline
Fasting has become a cornerstone of my health routine. I participated in two 5-day fasting sessions with Dr. Tripathi and even attempted the 9-day Fast for Freedom (FFF) programme successfully completing 7 days. Now, I fast every Thursday (with water, green smoothies, or fruit if needed) and observe both Ekadashis each month, giving me six fasting days monthly.
This discipline allows me to enjoy occasional indulgences like Masala Dosa or Pani Puri while balancing them the next day.
Athletic Identity & Fitness
Once a marathon runner, I’ve rekindled my love for fitness. I now jog 2–3 km weekly, cycle 30 km regularly (earlier 60–70 km during COVID with my kids), and make gym workouts a non-negotiable part of my day.Missing a workout feels like missing a step in life. It gives me energy, clarity, and motivation.
Inner Transformation
Initially, I engaged deeply with meditation, yoga, and stress management sessions. I also consulted FFD psychologists, which helped me navigate my high-stress work life. Moving back to Bangalore and changing my job brought more stability and peace of mind. Today, I actively participate in local FFD meetups and remain connected with the FFDN community for inspiration and accountability.
Current Lifestyle & Reflection
My journey is about balance. I enjoy small cheat meals but never let them derail my progress. My motto: “Satisfy the taste buds, not the stomach.” Through fasting, disciplined eating, and consistent exercise, I’ve not only reversed diabetes but also reshaped my mindset towards long-term health.
