I didn’t join Freedom From Diabetes because I felt unwell. I joined because my numbers didn’t look right and I wanted to fix them before they defined my future.

My Diabetes Story

In January 2025, during my company’s annual health check, my fasting blood sugar came back at 158. That was my first red flag.

I wasn’t surprised diabetes runs strongly in my family. Both my maternal and paternal sides have it, though it appeared much later for them. For me, it came early.

I felt physically fine. No fatigue. No symptoms. But the numbers told a different story.

How Was FFD Introduced & What Made Me Choose It

I found Freedom From Diabetes through social media while researching reversal and prevention-based approaches.

My mindset was simple: “Let me try. I have nothing to lose health-wise.”

Even if it didn’t work, I felt I would at least learn something.

Interestingly, my father is a doctor retired as a Chief Medical Officer at Coal India Limited.

But I chose not to involve my parents initially. I wanted to handle this quietly, with just my spouse and children knowing.

Reversal Story

When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was 6.8.

I had started Metformin (½ tablet) along with cholesterol medicines. From day one, I was clear I did not want to become medicine-dependent.

With guidance from my doctor and the FFD team, and consistent lifestyle changes, my reports began improving.

Within a few months:
  • Metformin was stopped
  • Cholesterol medicines were discontinued
  • HbA1c dropped steadily and reached 4.8
  • Today, I am completely medicine-free for diabetes and cholesterol.
  • Food Awareness: The Biggest Shift
  • FFD completely changed how I see food.
  • Stopped white rice and regular wheat rotis
  • Switched to red rice, black rice, and khapli roti
  • Made smoothies a non-negotiable part of my morning
  • Added chia seed water, nuts, and seeds daily
  • Salads once optional are now mandatory.
I follow a 4-part plate system:
  • ¼ salad
  • ¼ vegetables
  • ¼ dal/protein
  • ¼ controlled carbs
If carbs increase, everything else increases proportionally. That balance helped me lose fat without losing strength.

Work, Compliance & Reality

I won’t claim 100% compliance.

With a demanding job and young children, 60–70% consistency is realistic for me and I own that honestly.

If I miss workouts on weekdays, I compensate on weekends. I ensure 150 minutes of walking per week at minimum.

I may miss meditation or daily yoga but I never compromise on food awareness.

Weight & Physical Changes

At 5’9”, I weighed around 77 kg with significant visceral fat.

I dropped to 62 kg initially, which was actually too low for my frame.

With guidance, I adjusted and stabilized at 63–64 kg, focusing on muscle regain.

Interestingly, when I became leaner, people asked: “Are you sick?”

In India, a belly is often mistaken for health. I learned to ignore that noise.

Athletic Identity

I’m not a sports person by habit.
But today:
  • I walk 5–6 km comfortably
  • I regularly practice Surya Namaskar
  • Have done 30–40 Surya Namaskars in one stretch
Yoga for me is functional not spiritual and that works for my personality.

Inner Transformation & Stress

I tried meditation but it’s not my strength.

My job is stressful by nature, and I’ve accepted that reality.

What changed is how I respond to stress, not how much of it exists. FFD taught me awareness, not perfection.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

My biggest achievement is not just coming off medicines. It’s this question I now ask before eating: “Is this healthy for me or just tasty?”

That pause has changed everything. I didn’t just reverse diabetes. I learned how to live with clarity.

Key Quote
