Namaskar,
I’m Rekha Goswami from Kolkata. A homemaker and proud mother, I lived a life full of devotion and discipline. Today, I want to share my story not just of diabetes management but of resilience through physical illness and emotional strength, with Freedom from Diabetes as a guiding light.
Key Takeaways
- Suffering from neuropathy and Parkinson’s disease
- Stopped diabetes medication within 1 month of joining FFD
- Current HbA1c: 5.9
- Creatinine levels improved with medication prescribed by FFD doctor
My Diabetes Story
I never had the classic symptoms, no thirst, no fatigue. It was a routine blood test that showed I had diabetes. My father also had it, so I wasn’t shocked, but still… I didn’t expect it.
As the years passed, diabetes brought its own complications, neuropathy and eventually, Parkinson’s. The burning and pulling sensations in my thighs became unbearable, especially between 4 to 6 AM.
Life with Parkinson’s
Parkinson’s changed my life drastically. My speech clarity declined. I lost the ability to walk or stand. I recently fractured my hand due to a fall. Earlier, I used to manage with a walker and my husband’s support. Now, even that is difficult.
How FFD Was Introduced
My family joined FFD in July 2023. I’m not sure who exactly recommended it, but it was the right decision. Just a month into the program, the FFD doctor declared I no longer needed my diabetes medication. It was a huge relief for me and my entire family.
Reversal & Beyond
My HbA1c dropped from 6.0 to 5.9. That slight drop meant a lot given my physical condition. I haven’t cleared the GTT yet, but we continue with the FFD program so I can bring my HbA1c down even further.
Another big win was my creatinine levels, which had been elevated. With the help of the medication prescribed by an FFD doctor, those levels have now improved too.
Physical Limitations & Adaptation
With Parkinson’s, I can’t do regular workouts or Inner Transformation sessions. But I do receive daily physiotherapy, minimal movement, stretches, assisted limb movements. Even this helps. FFD’s exercise coach also guided us, and we followed what’s feasible.
Support System: My Husband, My Pillar
My husband is my voice and my strength. He understands even when I can’t speak clearly. He manages my physiotherapy, food, and medicines. We have two helpers too, but it is his love that keeps me mentally strong. “She doesn’t have any tension,” he says. “I am always there for her.”
Current Lifestyle & Reflection
Even with these health challenges, I feel at peace. My diet is structured. My routines are adapted. I know what I have to do. And I am surrounded by care and understanding.
We continue with the FFD program with full faith hoping to bring my HbA1c even lower and improve every possible health marker, step by step.
