Becoming diabetic brought me in contact with FFD and Dr. Pramod Tripathi. So, in a way, although It sounds contradictory, I owe my good health today to becoming diabetic.

I’ve always been practical about my health; this meant regular medical checkups. In January 2007, during one such checkup, my random sugars were found to be very high, in the 500’s. I was shocked, as there’s no history of diabetes in my family. My doctor was insistent that I go on insulin. But as I was not willing, he put me on oral medications.
Over the years, my medicines kept increasing and by the end January 2020, I was on nine tablets a day just to control my sugar level. Insulin seemed imminent. I was also on medication for thyroid, blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol. And at 99+ kg, my weight too very high. I was tired, lethargic and healed very slowly from ailments and injuries.

In January 2020, when I got my regular medical tests done and got another shock. My medical report had ALMOST ALL entries in BOLD, indicating out of range. I had failed everywhere.😔
Life had decidedly handed me a lemon 🍋. It was time to make lemonade.

Fortunately, my brother-in-law, whose colleague was an ex-FFDian, sent me information about FFD. Like any good IIT & IIM alumni, I dived straight into research. I Googled, YouTubed, pored through the FFD manual, and generally researched extensively. Impressed with my findings, I enrolled in FFD’s Transformative Residential Program (TRP). Then COVID lockdown happened, and the TRP batch was cancelled. But I saw it at just another lemon. I promptly transferred to the online Intensive Reversal Program (IRP) Batch 57.
Despite the lockdown, of maybe because of the time it afforded me, I was able to strictly follow the four protocols designed by FFD. It was well worth the effort. In about two months, all my blood sugar medicines were completely stopped; other medical parameters also drastically improved under the guidance of FFD doctors.

In July 2020, I achieved another one of my health goals—of dropping my weight below 7️⃣0️⃣ kg.

My next goal was to clear the Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) 🏆—the ultimate test for diabetes.

As mine was an old and chronic case, the Dawn Phenomenon was very active, leading to fasting blood sugar higher than GTT limits. Another lemon…time for another batch of lemonade!

Fortunately, the rest of my parameters were well within control.
I followed the FFD protocols more strictly and rigorously; made adjustments based on regular guidance and recommendations of the FFD team in all 3 areas, viz. Diet, Exercise and Stress Management. It was not easy, but then anything worthwhile in life seldom is. Finally, my fasting BSL was also tamed. I passed GTT in the first attempt🏆. Achieving my second health goal was very very satisfying.

And, then came an unexpected bonus. My weight loss of 3️⃣2️⃣ kg got me nominated for the Healthy Weight Loss Award in Muktotsav 2020. 🥇Winning it was the icing on the cake.🍮

Today, in March 2021, my weight and all my parameters are in full control and monitored by the FFD team. I have got my health back, the biggest gift any human being can get, for which I am extremely grateful to Dr Pramod Tripathi and his dedicated FFD team. 🙏🙏

This is not the end for me the lemonade maker. My next goal is to cycle🚴 100 km in a week, after that cycle 🚴500 km in a calendar month… I plan to achieve all these milestones before my 71st birthday on 25 April 2022. That will be a fitting birthday gift🥡 to myself.
