My Diabetes Story

I had no family history of diabetes. But when I started feeling tingling in my feet, a test revealed my HbA1c was 6.5.

Doctors told me to manage it with diet. Despite trying, my HbA1c rose to 7.5 by December.

That’s when I decided to take control and enrolled in Freedom From Diabetes.

How FFD Was Introduced to Me

One of my friends, Dr. Manali Thodak, works with FFD. She told me about the programme, and I immediately signed up.

Reversal Story

I never took diabetes medication. Through FFD’s structured diet and lifestyle plan, my HbA1c came down to 5.3 from 7.5.

My weight, which had crept up to 74 kg over two years, dropped to 63 kg at my lowest. Currently, I’m at 65.5 kg, still about 8 kg lighter than before.

My BP and cholesterol medications have been reduced; the cholesterol dose may be stopped soon if levels stay within limits.

Most importantly, the neuropathy-like pain in my feet has reduced, and I can hold yoga poses again without discomfort.

Athletic Identity

I’m consistent with activity. Four days a week, I attend an advanced Iyengar yoga class where we do intense asanas and hold complex postures for several minutes, even rope shirshasana for 5–7 minutes.

On the other days, I walk 4–6 km (minimum two rounds of my colony circuit), followed by stretches, wall push-ups, and hand exercises. This mix of yoga and walking has become my athletic identity.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Being a life coach and NLP master practitioner, I use my own tools to stay optimistic, reframe situations, and maintain balance. Even when weight fluctuates, I don’t self-blame, I simply adjust and move forward.

I’ve enjoyed the FFD diet. The variety and normal everyday foods prepared in a healthier way never made me feel deprived.

I love the green juice and even carried it when traveling. As a non-vegetarian, I learned to manage portions and substitute protein wisely.

I haven’t tried Fast for Freedom yet, but plan to once I return from travel.

Today, I feel energetic, more aware of my eating habits, and happy to fit into clothes I couldn’t wear before.
