My Weight Gain Story

My primary issue was weight gain peaking at 100 kg. Weight gain, I believe, was influenced by hormonal imbalances and my medical history. During both my pregnancies, I was prescribed steroids for the full nine months, which led to swelling and puffiness—effects that lingered long after childbirth.

I suffered from a serious knee problem that could not be treated surgically. The extra weight was putting immense pressure on my knees, worsening my condition and limiting my mobility. Additionally, I was dealing with thyroid issues and was on medication. Losing weight, therefore, became a necessary step toward improving my overall health.

How was FFD introduced and what made me choose it?

Though I had long been aware of the Freedom from Diabetes (FFD) program through my husband—who had achieved impressive results during the COVID era—I delayed joining it. Struggling with obesity for years, I frequently postponed taking action due to travel plans and other commitments. Eventually, I realized that there would never be a “perfect time” to begin and decided to take the plunge.

When I joined FFD, I weighed around 100 kg. With consistent effort, discipline, and amazing support from my health expert, dietitian, and the FFD team, I brought it down to 81 kg. It’s been a truly rejuvenating journey—My clothes fit better, Compliments keep coming, and even though I still have a slight limp, My walking has improved a lot. I feel more Confident, Energetic, and Mentally Uplifted.
 
Due to my knee issues, I haven’t fully discovered my athletic identity yet, But Yoga has become my go-to. It helps me stay strong, Flexible, and Peaceful—Without the stress of high-impact activities.
 
Food-wise, I’ve made big changes. As a true Bengali, giving up fish and dairy wasn’t easy, But I now mostly follow a vegan diet—occasionally enjoying fish and a rare dash of ghee.
