Prediabetes often feels like a warning sign many people ignore until it begins affecting daily life. For a school educator from Nashik, that warning came in the form of an HbA1c of 6.5, digestive discomfort from medication, menopause-related health changes, and growing concern about her future health.
Instead of depending solely on medicines, she chose a different path, one rooted in understanding her body, building sustainable habits, and making mindful lifestyle changes.
Today, she is medicine-free, lighter, stronger, and far more confident in managing her health even while traveling internationally.

Key Takeaways:
  • Reduced HbA1c from 6.5 to 5.5 in 5 months
  • Stopped diabetes meds in 5 days
  • Lost 6 kg (70 kg to 64 kg) in 5 months
  • Lost 2.5 kg with 9-days of FFF
  • Improved gut health significantly
  • Reduced sugar cravings completely
  • Built better endurance and strength
  • Learned to manage health while traveling internationally

My Diabetes Story

For a couple of years, I was in the prediabetic range and trying to understand what changes I needed to make. During a routine blood test in June, my HbA1c came back at 6.5.

While it wasn’t extremely high, I could feel something wasn’t right. I consulted an endocrinologist, who prescribed Metformin.

Unfortunately, the medication did not suit me at all. It severely affected my digestion and gut health.

I struggled with bloating, discomfort, and poor digestion, which made me realize I needed a more holistic and sustainable solution.

At the same time, I was also going through menopause, which added another layer of complexity to my health.

To make matters more challenging, diabetes runs strongly in my family. My father has been diabetic since the age of 36, so I knew I had to act early and intelligently.

How Was FFD Introduced and What Made Me Choose It?

While researching alternatives, I came across Dr. Malhar and scheduled a one-on-one consultation to better understand the Freedom From Diabetes program.

What appealed to me was that FFD wasn’t only focused on blood sugar numbers it addressed the entire lifestyle.

My goal was simple: I wanted to get my health under control naturally and avoid long-term dependence on medication.

The structured guidance, scientific explanations, and personalized support gave me confidence to begin.

My Reversal Story

I joined FFD with an HbA1c of 6.5 and was taking Metformin once daily. Within just 5 days, I was able to stop the medication.

My HbA1c gradually improved to 5.5, and more importantly, I began understanding how my body responds to food, activity, sleep, and stress.

One of my biggest wins has been eliminating cravings. Before joining, I had regular sweet cravings and emotional food tendencies. Today, those cravings are almost gone.

I also saw major improvements in:
  • Gut health
  • Digestion
  • Energy levels
  • Endurance
  • Strength
My starting weight was 70 kg, and I gradually brought it down to 64 kg. At one point, after doing the 9-Day Fast for Freedom, I reached 63.8 kg.

During fasting, I only lost about 2.5 kg, but the body transformation was visibly noticeable through fat loss and inch loss.

People around me started complimenting the changes, even though the weighing scale didn’t show dramatic numbers.

That was an eye-opener.

Learning to Stay Healthy Even While Traveling

A major challenge for me was frequent international travel. Because of my work, I had to travel multiple times to the US and UK, which disrupted my routine.

Initially, travel caused setbacks:
  • Weight gain
  • Blood sugar fluctuations
  • Irregular eating
  • Jet lag

But FFD helped me learn how to manage my health even while traveling.

Now, I consciously follow simple non-negotiables:

  • Walking after meals
  • Anti-gravity exercises
  • Fiber first, protein second, carbs last
  • Better food sequencing
  • Minimal but consistent movement
These simple habits made all the difference. Most recently, I returned from the US and was happy to see my health remained stable.

That gave me tremendous confidence.

Athletic Identity

I am currently still exploring my athletic identity. I discovered that I genuinely enjoy running, especially when I was in the US.

The infrastructure there made running enjoyable and comfortable, unlike in India where road conditions can be challenging.

So while I haven’t fully finalized my athletic identity yet, I know movement is now an important and joyful part of my life.

I’ve also started gym workouts again after returning to India.

Inner Transformation & Mindset Shift

Meditation has been a strong pillar in my life for the last 4 years. I regularly practice Isha Kriya and other meditation techniques inspired by Sadhguru.

Meditation has helped me immensely by:
  • Reducing stress
  • Improving emotional balance
  • Lowering overthinking
  • Increasing present-moment awareness
One of my biggest internal shifts has been around body image. Earlier, I used to overthink my appearance and body shape constantly.

Now, I have learned:

  • Self-acceptance
  • Self-love
  • Patience with the body
This mindset shift has been just as important as my physical transformation.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Today, I feel much more empowered.

My biggest takeaway from FFD is that health doesn’t require perfection. It requires consistency.

Instead of obsessing over doing everything perfectly, I now focus on small sustainable actions:
  • Better food choices
  • Walking regularly
  • Gym workouts
  • Meditation
  • Structured routines
  • These habits have helped me stay healthier, stronger, and calmer.
Even with work pressure, menopause, and international travel, I now know how to stay in control.

That knowledge itself is freedom.
