I am Siddaram Koganoor from Bijapur, a retired engineer. I joined Freedom from Diabetes not because I had diabetes, but because I wanted to lose my belly fat, improve my health, and maintain my fitness as I aged. At the time, I was in the pre-diabetic stage, with an HbA1c close to 6.1. Today, it’s down to 5.8 back to normal and I’m nearly 9 kg lighter, with better energy and health markers than ever before.

My Story
When I first discovered I was in the pre-diabetic range, I wasn’t facing any major health problems. My only concern was my belly fat, which I felt was too prominent for my otherwise active lifestyle.
My weight was around 75–76 kg, which wasn’t extremely high, but at 67, I wanted to ensure I stayed fit and healthy.

For over 25 years since the mid-1990s I had been walking regularly and practising pranayama. Still, the belly fat stayed.
I never had mobility issues, but I wanted to take preventive steps before any lifestyle diseases could set in.

How FFD Entered My Life
A close friend from Pune, Mr. Pirappa Patil, had diabetes and joined Freedom from Diabetes. Within six months, he reversed his diabetes and looked visibly healthier and happier. His transformation inspired me.
Even though I wasn’t diabetic, I joined FFD to address my belly fat, maintain my health, and possibly prevent diabetes from ever developing.

My Journey
After joining FFD, I began seeing remarkable changes in my health markers.

Fast For Freedom
I also took part in Fast for Freedom challenges: successfully completing FFF4 and losing 2.5 Kg during the fast and attempting FFF5 (which I couldn’t finish due to unavoidable circumstances). During FFF 6 I lost 2.8 Kg, fasting made me feel more active and surprisingly less hungry
Support & Lifestyle
I haven’t joined any other structured weight-loss programme before my only efforts were self-managed walking and pranayama.

Living in a small district town, my exercise options are limited, but I’m now considering buying a bicycle or joining a club with a gym and swimming facilities. That will be my next step.
