Hello all,
I’m Yogita Joshi, a homemaker who occasionally takes up freelance consulting work. My journey with diabetes began during an emotionally turbulent time in 2016, and over the years, I’ve faced many ups and downs—not just with my health, but with life itself. Through it all, Freedom from Diabetes (FFD) has remained a guiding light, helping me rediscover hope, health, and healing.
Key Takeaways
- Diabetes diagnosis triggered by stress and emotional trauma
- HbA1c once reached 11 with 1050mg medication; now on just 250 mg
- Weight reduced by 6–11 kg from peak of 109 kg
- Developed frozen shoulder and overcame it through FFD support
- Strong emotional and lifestyle improvements through Inner Transformation sessions
- Working towards consistency and full reversal
My Diabetes Story
Back in 2016, after a tragic family event, I stayed with my sister-in-law for two months.
My cousin, a doctor, suggested I get my blood tests done—and that’s when I learned I had elevated fasting and PP sugars.
It was diagnosed as stress-induced diabetes. My HbA1c wasn’t too high at first,
And the doctor told me I didn’t need medication immediately—but warned it would likely worsen.
For a while, I managed without medication, but by 2019–2020, my HbA1c had shot up to 11. That’s when I was put on insulin in Bangalore.
I also went through a hysterectomy and frequent relocations due to my husband’s army postings, which made consistent health management even harder.
How was FFD introduced?
It was our dear friend Mrs. Shalini Chaubey—lovingly called “DD” who inspired us.
Her remarkable transformation through FFD pushed both me and my husband to join.
We first enrolled in 2021, but due to my father’s illness and passing, I couldn’t give it my all.
What made me choose FFD?
Seeing DD’s dramatic transformation gave us hope. And later, with my husband’s encouragement, we both rejoined the program.
This time, I knew I had to try again—because I still believed healing was possible.
Reversal Story
The second time, I started strong. But life brought fresh challenges—relocations, personal issues, and then a frozen shoulder.
For two months, I followed the physiotherapy exercises and FFD’s videos consistently, and slowly regained movement.
My weight, once at 109 kg, came down to around 96–97 kg at one point. Right now, I hover around 102–103 kg, but I’ve kept off at least 6–11 kg depending on the phase.
I aim to reach my pre-marriage weight in the 70s or 80s.
On the medication front, I’ve gone from 1,050 mg to just 250 mg at night. I was even medicine-free for a while.
My next goal is to become fully medicine-free again—with proper focus and discipline.
Inner Transformation & Emotional Healing
The IT sessions, especially with Ms. Kavita Modi, were a big source of comfort.
Even if I couldn’t attend regularly due to caregiving responsibilities, the ones I did attend helped tremendously.
I also found peace in Dr. Mayurika’s Monday meditations and have taken up Isha Kriya, which my husband practices twice a day.
While I do it once daily (sometimes inconsistently), I know it’s helping me stay grounded.
A big internal struggle has been consistency. A stranger once told me I would never be consistent, and that idea haunted me.
But I’m aware of this block now—and I’m working to overcome it.
Current Lifestyle
- Down to 250 mg of medication
- Maintains 6–11 kg weight loss
- Two-meal pattern, minimal snacking
- 95% plant-based and dairy-free
- Conscious eating choices even while dining out
- Practices meditation regularly
- Preparing to give herself 2–3 months of undisturbed self-care
- I now think before I eat. We’ve shifted from fried street food to simple home-cooked meals. Even my children tease us, saying we’ve “become old” because we prefer roti-sabzi over indulgent foods!
