My Diabetes Story
My diabetes surfaced in 2011, after I returned from US. But the truth is, I had been pre-diabetic for years without knowing it.
I had several risk factors that included PCOS, Hypothyroidism since 1999 (my dose once went up to 150 mcg), Obesity and Family history of diabetes(my father was diabetic).
I was on metformin from 2005, long before my official diagnosis. And despite my work in women’s health and grassroot diabetes prevention projects, my own sugars kept fluctuating.
By 2018, stress, personal and financial pressure pushed my sugars even higher. I was put on insulin for 2–3 months. Those days were painful, exhausting, and mentally draining.
How I Was Introduced to FFD
During COVID, I came across an FFD video a man from Chennai saying,
“I am 66, I run marathons, and I reversed diabetes.”
This stayed with me. I even attended a DRS session, but at that time I didn’t take the final step because of how overwhelmed I felt with calls during the lockdown.

Within the first month of joining FFD, I was off all diabetes medicines. No metformin after nearly 16 years of taking it.

Yoga has been with me for years, and it continues to be my primary athletic identity. I complement it with occasional gym sessions when my body allows mainly for muscle strengthening.

I meditate daily. I’ve been practicing since a very young age and am a trainer in Heartfulness Meditation. Alongside this, I practice forgiveness , mindful eating, and self-awareness.
