How a 77-Year-Old Ex-Banker from Hyderabad Stopped Insulin and Regained Confidence in Managing Diabetes
I am Off 35 Units of Daily Insulin in Just 1.5 Months with FFD!
- Name - Mrs. Premalatha Ganesh
- Age - 77 Years Young
- Profession - Ex-Banker
- Place - Hyderabad, Telangana.
At 77, many people believe managing long-term diabetes only means increasing medicines, adjusting insulin, and living cautiously. I believed that too for many years.
But after living with diabetes for 13 years, taking insulin regularly, and watching my fasting sugars remain stubbornly high, I knew I needed a different path.
Today, I feel more confident, lighter, and most importantly, back in control of my health.
Key Takeaways

My Diabetes Story
I am an ex-banker and worked as a manager in a bank. My diabetes was discovered unexpectedly.
I had no symptoms and did not even know I was diabetic. One day during a regular consultation, my doctor suggested I get tested, and that is when I found out I had diabetes.
Both my parents had diabetes, so the family history was strong.
Over the years, I became very careful because I was also managing sciatica and other age-related limitations.
Despite following multiple dietary precautions, my fasting sugar levels simply refused to improve.
Despite following multiple dietary precautions, my fasting sugar levels simply refused to improve.
That was the most frustrating part. My endocrinologist kept increasing my insulin dosage.
At one point, I was advised:
- 20 units insulin in the afternoon
- 15 units insulin at night
- Metformin 500 mg morning and evening
But I was uncomfortable with this constant escalation. I remember thinking, This cannot be the long-term solution.
How Was FFD Introduced to Me and What Made Me Choose It?
I kept seeing videos, participant stories, and explanations by Dr. Pramod Tripathi.
After watching many of them repeatedly, I felt there was logic and hope in this approach, that’s when I decided to enroll for the Discover Reversal Session.
After watching many of them repeatedly, I felt there was logic and hope in this approach, that’s when I decided to enroll for the Discover Reversal Session.
What convinced me most was simple: Everything else I had tried was only increasing my medication dependency.
My sugars were not improving. So I decided to try something that focused on lifestyle and root cause instead.
My Reversal Story
When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was approximately between 11. Today, it is 7.1.
At one stage, it had even reached 6.8, but due to family stress and emotional disturbances recently, it went slightly up again.
Even then, I am happy because I know I am on the right path.

The biggest win?
I stopped insulin completely within 1.5 months.
This was huge for me. Although I am still on oral medicines, insulin was discontinued quickly under medical supervision.
Since I have had diabetes for 13 years, I understand reversal is a gradual process.

I am not rushing. I believe slow, sustainable progress is better.
As I often tell myself: “I want to do this in a relaxed, practical way so I can continue it for life.”
Other Health Improvements I Experienced
- Apart from sugar improvement, several other markers improved:
- Fasting sugars now often below 120 (sometimes 113–115)
- Improved fasting insulin from 14 to 8.6
- Weight reduced from 65.5 kg to 59 kg
- Better insulin resistance
- More confidence and reduced anxiety around diabetes
Earlier, my fasting sugars never seemed to improve no matter what I did. Now when I see consistent improvement, it reassures me deeply.
Athletic Identity
At my age, I work within my body’s limits. Because of sciatica and difficulty with floor exercises, I follow:
- Chair yoga
- Chair Surya Namaskar
- Meditation
- Breathing practices
- Stationary cycling for 15–20 minutes on alternate days
FFD’s “Age Gracefully” exercise content has been especially useful for me. I no longer think of diabetes as something controlling me. Instead, I feel equipped to manage it intelligently.
Current Lifestyle & Reflection
I continue following most of the FFD principles while making practical adjustments for sustainability.
As a South Indian, I occasionally have:
- Coffee without sugar
- Curd in moderation
I have not done the 9-Day Fast for Freedom, but fasting is already part of my spiritual practice.
I regularly do:
- Ekadashi fasting
- 3–4 day fasting occasionally
- Water fasting with Shahi Pani
Meditation has been part of my life even before FFD, and it continues to keep me calm, confident, and mentally steady.
The biggest mindset shift I experienced is this:

Diabetes is no longer constantly occupying my mind. I know I have it, but I also know how to handle it. That confidence itself is healing.
