My name is Arun Savagaonkar, I am 72 years old, and I live in Sangli. I am a retired Structural Engineer.
I have been living with diabetes for over 21 years. For a long time, my main challenge was moderately high sugar levels, even though I did not experience major symptoms.
Over time, I realized that managing diabetes is not just about medicines but about understanding the body and making the right lifestyle changes.

Key Takeaways

  • Diabetes Duration: 21 Years
  • HbA1c reduced from 7.5 to 6.5 without medicines

  • Significant improvement in acidity and digestion.

My Diabetes Story

I had diabetes for many years, but my only noticeable issue was that my blood sugar levels were moderately high.

There was some family history, as my uncle and cousin had diabetes, but otherwise, I did not face major complications.

At one point, I was on a single tablet of Metformin (500 mg) to manage my condition.

However, I knew that I needed a more natural and sustainable way to handle my health.

How I Discovered FFD

I first came across Freedom From Diabetes through a Marathi newspaper article in Sakal, written by Dr. Pramod Tripathi.

The concept of smoothies mentioned in the article caught my attention. I tried it on my own and found that it worked well for me.

This encouraged me to go deeper.

I then attended the Discover Reversal Session, where I truly understood:

  • What is diabetes,
  • What is insulin resistance

How lifestyle impacts sugar levels. That clarity convinced me to take the next step and enroll in the TRP (Transcendental Residential Program).

My TRP Experience

What impacted me the most was:

The TRP experience was transformational, especially because it introduced me to structured lifestyle practices.

  • Juice feasting
  • Disciplined food routines
  • Understanding how the body responds to food.

In fact, on the very first day of TRP, I was able to stop my diabetes medication.

Another major benefit was that my long-standing issue of acidity reduced significantly, and my appetite became more balanced.

Like any long journey, mine also had fluctuations.

Due to factors like:

  • COVID-related health changes,
  • Dental implant procedures, small surgeries etc.

My sugar levels became unstable again for some time. These phases taught me that consistency is key, and even small disruptions can affect the system.

Experimenting & Learning

One of the most important parts of my journey was experimenting and finding what works best for my body.

I developed my own Beetroot Kanji (fermented drink) recipe, which I started consuming regularly:

Twice a day (morning and evening) from December 2025, along with a simple, controlled diet ( wheat and rice got automatically reduced due to the effect of kanji).

This had a significant impact. Due to consumption of Beetroot Kanji, it is possible for me to have Autofagy (for 16 hours) that helped me

  • to stabilize my sugar levels.
  • Reduced my dependency on medicines
  • Improved gut health and digestion.

I also started incorporating prebiotics (which is inevitable as the absence of prebiotics will engulf the good bacteria formed due to use of Kanji) into my routine, which further supported my health.

Athletic Identity

  • At 72, I continue to stay active in my own way:
  • I practice Surya Namaskars daily (around 12 with controlled breathing)
  • I follow anti-gravity exercises and resistance band movements
  • I stay consistent with light physical activity after meals
  • My focus is not on intensity, but on consistency and sustainability.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Today, I feel stable, aware, and in control of my health. The biggest shift for me has been moving from blindly following medication to truly understanding my body.

My daily routine now plays a very important role in maintaining this stability.

I consciously include periods of fasting to support autophagy, allowing my body the time it needs to repair and reset naturally.

Along with this, I ensure regular consumption of prebiotic-rich foods, which helps nourish my gut health and supports better digestion and sugar control.

These small but consistent practices have made a significant difference in how I feel every day.

I strongly believe that everyone should experience this kind of structured program at least once, to truly understand how lifestyle impacts health.

Key Quote

“Everyone should experience the TRP at least once in their lifetime and consume Beetroot Kanji regularly to improve the gut.
