My Diabetes Story
My diabetes was diagnosed almost casually. In 2010, during a visit to a naturopathy centre, my fasting sugar came out to be around 200. That is when I realised I had diabetes.
I did not experience any major symptoms before or after diagnosis. However, diabetes ran strongly in my family.
My father lived with diabetes for 37 years. Somewhere deep inside, I always knew this was something I needed to take seriously.

For the first 4–5 years, I tried managing diabetes on my own. From around 2016 onwards, I had to start medications.

I came across Freedom From Diabetes while scrolling through social media reels. What caught my attention initially was the concept of the green smoothie.
Out of curiosity, I started having the smoothie regularly. After 3–4 months, I noticed my HbA1c had come down.

When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was around 9.6. Over time, it came down to 6.3.
One of my biggest achievements was weight loss. I lost nearly 15 kg in 7 months.

I have completed Fast for Freedom multiple times. Each time, I lost about 4 kg and experienced a feeling of lightness not just in the body, but also in the mind.
Fasting helped me reset, regain discipline, and reconnect with my health goals whenever I felt off track. It reminded me that my body is capable of much more than I once believed.
Emotional Healing & Inner Transformation
One of the most beautiful parts of my journey has been emotional healing. I attended a few sessions with the psychologist and followed journaling practices sincerely.
These sessions helped me let go of expectations, become more fearless, and develop a calmer outlook towards life.

Food, Lifestyle & Social Support
Initially, I was extremely focused on my food and lifestyle. For the first few months, I avoided eating out completely.
Later, when I started going out again, my friends were very supportive even choosing vegan options when we went out together.

I shifted away from dairy milk and now use coconut milk. Rice consumption is rare, and even when I go off-diet, I naturally eat smaller portions.

Athletic Identity
Over the years, I have practiced strength training, cardio, and Surya Namaskar. At one point during my journey, I could comfortably do 54–58 Surya Namaskars.
The past year has been challenging due to personal and health fluctuations, but I am committed to getting back on track in 2026 with renewed motivation and consistency.
FFD Health Retreat (FHR)
I have attended the FFD Health Retreat three times. Each visit helps me reconnect with the community, the doctors, and the philosophy of FFD.
Listening to other participants’ journeys motivates me deeply.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection
Today, my fasting sugar readings are far better than before. Even with thyroid medication at a minimal dose, my overall health parameters are improving.
I have learnt that with long-standing diabetes, healing takes time but it does happen when you stay consistent.
