My Diabetes Story

When my diabetes was detected, it came as a complete surprise because I had no visible symptoms.

There was some family history, as my mother developed diabetes later in life after the age of 65.

But I was diagnosed much earlier.

When I first checked my numbers, my HbA1c was extremely high at 11.8, and my fasting sugar was around 250.

Naturally, I started searching online for ways to control diabetes without depending on medicines.

How I Discovered FFD

While researching online, I came across a Freedom From Diabetes video on YouTube. That was my first introduction to the program.

Before joining, I experimented with two-meal intermittent fasting, which helped me lose 2–3 kg in the first month, but I found it difficult to sustain.

I also used to feel dizzy after meals, which made things uncomfortable.

That’s when I decided to join Freedom From Diabetes and follow a more structured approach.

My Reversal Journey

When I joined the program, my HbA1c was around 10.8.

I started following the FFD diet with green smoothies, nuts, seeds, and balanced meals.

The structured guidance made things easier compared to what I had tried earlier.

The biggest turning point came when I did the Fast for Freedom (9-day fasting protocol).

Before fasting, my fasting sugar was around 180–190.

After completing the fasting protocol, my fasting levels dropped below 120, and for most of the year I maintained them below 130.

Today, my HbA1c has come down to around 7.6.

Weight Loss Journey

Another major transformation was my weight loss.

When I joined the program, my weight was around 83 kg.

Within the first three months, through diet and lifestyle changes, I lost 11 kg, bringing my weight down to 72.5 kg.

Recently, due to a few holidays and family events, I gained around 4 kg, but I am now working on bringing my weight back under control.

Despite this fluctuation, I feel much better physically and mentally compared to before.

Fasting & Lifestyle Awareness

One of the most valuable lessons for me was understanding the power of fasting.

Earlier, I believed that people with diabetes should avoid fasting completely.

But after experiencing it personally, I realized that fasting, when done correctly, can be extremely beneficial.

Now whenever my sugar levels start rising, I know how to use fasting as a tool to bring them back under control.

This knowledge has given me a lot of confidence and independence in managing my health.

Current Lifestyle

My current routine includes:
  • Regular walking
  • Yoga sessions
  • Occasional fasting protocols when required
Earlier I used to practice Surya Namaskar and yoga more regularly, and I plan to return to that routine again to improve my results further.

Current Reflection

I honestly believe that if I had followed the program even 80% consistently, my HbA1c would have probably dropped below 7 or even closer to 6.5.

The program has helped me understand my body much better.

Even when my discipline slips occasionally, I now know exactly what steps I need to take to regain control.
