- Name - Mrs. Rajkumari Gulechha

I am Rajkumari, a 71-year-old homemaker who has lived with diabetes for more than two decades. When I joined Freedom From Diabetes, I had already been dependent on insulin for 6–7 years and was taking multiple medicines every day. I wondered whether anything could really change after so many years of diabetes. But I decided to trust the process. My journey took me through TRP, lifestyle changes, mentoring and a complete shift in the way I looked at life. I eventually lost 20 kg, stopped insulin and discovered a much stronger, more active and positive version of myself.

My Diabetes Story
My diabetes journey began many years ago. Around 1992–1994, I was hospitalised after developing an infection in my teeth and mouth.
That was around the time my diabetes was diagnosed.
That was around the time my diabetes was diagnosed.
Diabetes was not unfamiliar in my family. Both my parents had diabetes. My brother and sister also had diabetes, and sadly, my brother passed away.
By the time I joined Freedom From Diabetes in 2017, I had already been living with diabetes for more than two decades.
For around 6–7 years, I had been taking insulin. I was using multiple insulin doses during the day and had also been taking several medicines.

Naturally, I had doubts. I had already tried dealing with diabetes for years, so a part of me wondered whether anything could really change now.
But I decided to give myself a chance.

How I Found FFD
I joined Freedom From Diabetes in 2017. At that stage, I had been living with diabetes for many years and was already using insulin.
I attended DRS twice and began following the guidance at home.
I then joined TRP, which became a major turning point in my journey.

My Reversal Journey
When I joined FFD, I was around 68 kg and had been taking insulin for 6–7 years.
My insulin requirement was substantial, and I was also taking a combination of around 3–4 medicines.

After attending DRS and following the guidance at home, my insulin was discontinued.
This was one of the biggest milestones of my journey because I had been dependent on insulin for years.

I then joined TRP and followed the programme seriously.
The transformation was significant. During my journey, I lost around 20 kg. My weight came down from approximately 68 kg to around 47–48 kg.
Since that was lower than what was appropriate for me, I consciously worked on gaining some weight and eventually reached around 51 kg.

Today, I am no longer on insulin. I take two medicines—one in the morning and one in the evening.
Earlier, I was taking around 3–4 medicines, so the reduction in medication has been another important change for me.

I joined TRP twice and, through my years of mentoring, I eventually completed TRP three times.
I did not formally enrol in HTP, but as a mentor for around six years, I received the ongoing guidance, messages and learnings from the programme.

For me, the journey was not just about losing weight or reducing medicines.
It was about learning how to take responsibility for my health and continuing to follow the right habits over the years.

TRP Experience
TRP became one of the most meaningful parts of my FFD journey.
My first TRP experience was very good, and I was able to translate the learnings into my everyday life at home.
My first TRP experience was very good, and I was able to translate the learnings into my everyday life at home.
I especially valued the deeper lessons beyond food and exercise. I learned to work on my anger, let go of the past and focus on the present.
I have been living alone for around 17–18 years after losing my husband.
Earlier, that reality was emotionally much more difficult for me.
Through TRP and the continued support I received during mentoring, I learned to handle life differently.

I completed TRP three times, and every experience gave me an opportunity to revisit the learnings and discover something new.
Inner Transformation
For me, one of the most powerful transformations happened within. TRP helped me understand that holding on to the past can affect how we experience the present.
I learned to work on my anger, release emotional burdens and teach myself to live in the present moment.
These changes gave me greater emotional strength and helped me move forward with a more positive outlook.

After TRP, the ongoing mentoring support for six years became equally valuable.
Revisiting the concepts repeatedly helped me reinforce the changes rather than treating them as something temporary.

Athletic Identity
Before joining FFD, I used to practise Yoga, but my exercise routine was limited to around 10–20 minutes.
FFD completely changed my approach to physical activity. At one point, I was able to perform 200–250 Surya Namaskars.
I had to stop this intensive practice for around a year and a half following right ankle surgery. But even after that setback, I did not give up on movement.
Today, at 71, I practise around 25–30 Surya Namaskars and complete a full hour of Power Yoga. I also incorporate weight training into my routine.
I now truly feel that I have discovered my athletic identity. Exercise is no longer something I do occasionally—it has become an important part of my lifestyle.
Current Lifestyle & Reflection
Looking back, my biggest learning is that transformation is possible even after years of diabetes and insulin dependence.
I spent 36–37 years with my husband, who was also a doctor and had knowledge about medicines.
Today, I understand the importance of taking care of my health and know that whenever I need the right guidance, FFD is something I can turn to.

What began as uncertainty about whether anything would work eventually became a journey of positive results, discipline and self-belief.
My advice to anyone considering FFD is simple: trust the process and follow the guidance sincerely. I have experienced the difference myself.
