Hello

I am Pushpa C K, a 55-year-old homemaker from Mysore. My diabetes journey began with frequent urination at night, a dry mouth and persistent itching. When I was diagnosed, my HbA1c was 7.7 and I was taking multiple diabetes tablets. Initially, I had little confidence that I could become free from medicines. But within a month of joining Freedom From Diabetes, my diabetes medicines were stopped. Today, my HbA1c has reached as low as 5.5 without diabetes medication. Along the way, I have also reduced my weight, seen improvement in my varicose vein pain and witnessed positive changes in several health parameters. My journey has taught me that with the right guidance and lifestyle changes, I can take greater control of my health.

  • 3–4 kg lost during fasting

My Diabetes Story

My diabetes journey began when I started experiencing frequent urination at night and a very dry mouth.

I also developed itching, which became one of the main symptoms I noticed.

These symptoms prompted me to get tested, and that is when I discovered that I had diabetes.

Diabetes also runs in my family.

My father had diabetes, and I was diagnosed at around the same age as he was.

When I joined Freedom From Diabetes, my HbA1c was 7.7.

Before FFD, my diabetes medication had gradually increased.

Initially, I was taking one tablet, but over the years the medication increased to three tablets.

By the time I joined FFD, I was taking Metformin 500 mg along with another supporting medicine.

How I Found FFD

I wanted to find a way to manage my diabetes permanently.

I had seen an advertisement about diabetes on television and later discussed my condition with aX nearby homoeopathy doctor.

When I told him that I wanted a long-term solution, he suggested Freedom From Diabetes.

He gave me the details and contact information, and my son helped me join the programme.

When I joined, I did not have much confidence that I could become free from medicines.

But my confidence changed completely when my tablets were stopped after about a month.

Reversal Story

When I entered the programme, my HbA1c was 7.7 and I was taking three diabetes tablets.

Within the first 15 days, my medication was reduced, and after around one month, the remaining diabetes tablets were also stopped.

Since then, I have not taken diabetes medication.

My HbA1c has also improved significantly.

Over the course of my journey, I have seen readings around 5.5, 5.9 and 6. My lowest recorded HbA1c has been 5.5.

My weight has also reduced. I weighed around 60 kg when I joined FFD and am currently around 56 kg.

At one point, my weight had gone down to approximately 53 kg, although it later increased by around 3 kg.

My BMI has also improved from around 26 to approximately 23.

The improvements were not limited to diabetes.

I had been experiencing pain associated with varicose veins, but after joining FFD, the pain and symptoms reduced substantially.

My liver-related parameters also improved. Earlier, my SGPT-SGOT ratio was elevated, while it has now normalised.

My triglyceride-to-HDL ratio also improved from around 2.4 to approximately 1.43.

I was also taking Thyronorm for thyroid management.

Earlier, my thyroid level was around 9.57, which improved to approximately 4.43.

My thyroid medication was reduced from 100 mcg to 75 mcg. Unlike my diabetes medication, I continue to take my thyroid medicine.

Inner Transformation

My FFD journey has helped me understand that managing health is not only about medicines and reports.

It is also about developing healthier habits and taking responsibility for my lifestyle.

Through the programme, I worked on improving my daily routine and incorporating physical activity.

Yoga, walking and other exercises became part of my lifestyle.

Fast for Freedom

I participated in the nine-day fasting challenge in October. The initial three to four days were difficult, but gradually I adjusted to the fasting.

During the fasting period, I lost around 3–4 kg.

However, I also noticed that my energy levels dropped significantly.

I found it difficult to do my regular work or walk outside and mostly stayed at home because I felt uneasy.

Although fasting was challenging for me, I completed it and felt that it helped me reset my body.

Athletic Identity

Exercise has been an important part of my lifestyle. I regularly practised yoga and walking, and I was also doing anti-gravity exercises every day before taking a break for personal reasons.

Yoga has become my main form of exercise. I can currently perform up to 12 Surya Namaskars in one go.

For the past month, I have temporarily stopped exercising because of personal problems at home. However, before this break, yoga, walking and anti-gravity exercises were a regular part of my routine.

Current Lifestyle

Today, I am free from diabetes medication and have seen significant improvements in my health parameters.

My HbA1c has come down from 7.7 to as low as 5.5, while my weight has reduced from around 60 kg to 56 kg.

I continue to take my thyroid medication, although the dosage has reduced from 100 mcg to 75 mcg.

The pain from my varicose veins has also improved, and several of my health parameters have moved in the right direction.

My experience has made me believe that more people should learn how to manage diabetes through lifestyle changes.

I have seen how difficult it can be when people only keep increasing medicines without understanding how to manage the condition through their everyday habits.

My biggest learning is that finding the right guidance can make a difference.

I was introduced to FFD through a doctor's advice, and that guidance helped me take the first step towards becoming free from diabetes medicines.
