  • Name -  Mrs. Jyoti Bhalla
  • Age - 58 Years Young
  • Profession - School Teacher
  • Place - New Delhi
Hello, my name is Jyoti Bhalla, I am 58 years old, and I belong to New Delhi. I have been a school teacher for over 26 years, and currently, I am on a sabbatical, staying in Imphal due to my husband’s posting.
Unlike many others, I did not join FFD for diabetes. My HbA1c was borderline, but my real concern was weight gain, cholesterol, and overall health.
Today, I feel more aware, lighter, and more in control of my health journey.

Key Takeaways
  • HbA1c improved from 5.9 to 5.5 in 3 months
  • Weight: 74 kg to 59 kg in 3 months
  • Significant improvement in cholesterol levels
  • Working towards muscle strength and bone health
  • Managing BP with awareness and lifestyle changes

My Story

My journey started not because of diabetes, but because of gradual weight gain and lifestyle concerns.

Although my HbA1c was only borderline, I knew I was heading in the wrong direction.

Over the years, factors like menopause, lifestyle habits, and portion control contributed to my weight gain.

I also had concerns like high cholesterol and blood pressure, which made me realize that I needed to take action before things worsened.

How I Found Freedom From Diabetes

I came across FFD on Facebook, and for almost a year, I kept watching the content and attending sessions.

Finally, during my summer break in 2025, I decided to take the step and join the program.

My goal was simple to lose weight, improve my health, and prevent diabetes.

My Reversal Journey

When I started, my weight was 74 kg, and over time, I reduced it to around 59 kg, achieving a 15 kg weight loss.

My HbA1c improved from 5.9 to 5.5, bringing me further away from the diabetes risk zone.

In addition, my cholesterol levels improved significantly, without long-term dependency on medication.

While I did take a short break in between due to health reasons, I resumed and continued my journey with renewed focus.

Health Improvements

Along with weight loss, I noticed meaningful improvements:
  • Better metabolic health
  • Improved cholesterol levels
  • Increased body awareness
  • More focus on long-term health rather than quick fixes
However, I am still working on managing my blood pressure, which I feel is also influenced by stress and anxiety.

Role of Lifestyle Changes

This journey made me realize that even healthy foods in excess can lead to weight gain.

I became more mindful of:
  • Portion control
  • Avoiding outside food
  • Reducing oil and processed intake
Switching to certain aspects like a plant-based diet was initially challenging, especially giving up lifelong habits like milk and curd, but I gradually adapted.

Athletic Identity

Currently, I stay active through:
  • Walking regularly
  • Strength training at home
  • Basic gym exercises
Earlier, I also practiced Surya Namaskar (up to 16 rounds) and plan to restart it.

My focus now is on building muscle strength and improving bone health, which is especially important at this stage of life.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

This journey has made me more conscious of my health than ever before.

I understand that this is not a temporary program, it is a lifestyle that needs to be followed consistently.

My goal now is not just to maintain my weight but to become stronger, fitter, and prevent future health issues like diabetes.

Key Quote
