Hello

I am Ramesh Sigamani, a 54-year-old investment advisor from Bengaluru. My diabetes was detected during a routine health check-up, even though I had no noticeable symptoms. With a family history of diabetes, I was taking medication when I joined Freedom From Diabetes. What encouraged me to take the programme seriously was hearing Dr. B. M. Hegde speak about Dr. Pramod Tripathi and the possibility of managing diabetes through lifestyle changes. I decided to give myself that chance. Over time, my HbA1c improved, I lost 5 kg, became medicine-free and developed a much stronger routine around exercise and meditation.

Key Takeaways

• HbA1c: 6.9 to 6.1
• Lost approximately 5 kg
• Weight: 63 kg to 58 kg
• Became medicine-free after a gradual journey of around 5 months
• Energy levels improved
• Digestion improved with guided support
• Surya Namaskars: 8 to nearly 55
• Regular meditation and Kapalbhati
• Follows two meals a day and avoids dinner

My Diabetes Story

My diabetes was discovered during a routine health check-up.

I did not experience any noticeable symptoms, so there was no particular warning sign that made me suspect I had diabetes.

I also had a family history of diabetes. When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was around 6.7–6.9%.

I was taking one diabetes medicine at the time, and my initial thought was simple: if there was a possibility of managing my diabetes through lifestyle changes, I wanted to explore it.

I did not want to look at diabetes only as a condition that required lifelong medication. I wanted to understand what I could do myself to improve my health.

How I Found FFD

I came to know about Freedom From Diabetes through the ideas of Dr. B. M. Hegde.

I had heard him speak about Dr. Pramod Tripathi and the FFD approach.

For me, that created a sense of trust. Dr. Hegde has been associated with medicine for a long time and has achieved a great deal in his career.

When someone I respected spoke positively about the possibility of managing diabetes through lifestyle, I felt it was worth exploring.

That became the motivation behind my decision to join FFD.

My Reversal Journey

When I started my FFD journey, my HbA1c was around 6.7–6.9%, and I was taking diabetes medication.

My journey towards becoming medicine-free was gradual. It was not an immediate change.

The medicine was stopped initially, then restarted after a period, and later stopped again.

Eventually, after around five months of this process, I was able to remain free from diabetes medication.

My HbA1c also showed a positive change. From around 6.9%, it came down to 6.1%, which has been my lowest level during this journey.

Weight was another important change. I was around 63 kg when I joined and gradually came down to approximately 58 kg.

I lost around 5 kg and have been able to maintain my weight around this level.

I also noticed that my energy levels improved. In the beginning, I experienced some weakness, but over time I started feeling better and more energetic.

My digestion also improved. During my consultations, I received guidance and Ayurvedic support, which helped address the digestive issues I was experiencing.

One of the things I have maintained consistently is my eating pattern.

For around five to six years, I have generally followed two meals a day—breakfast and lunch—and I do not have dinner.

This routine has continued as part of my lifestyle.

The biggest learning for me has been that consistency matters. The changes did not happen because of one single action.

They came from bringing together food discipline, physical activity and mental practices.

Athletic Identity

My exercise journey has also changed considerably.

Earlier, I used to perform around eight Surya Namaskars. Today, I can do nearly 55.

I practise Surya Namaskars twice a week. On another four days, I focus on muscle-building exercises.

I am currently working towards building muscle and improving my strength.

Exercise has therefore become a regular part of my lifestyle rather than something I do occasionally.

The progress from eight Surya Namaskars to nearly 55 has also given me confidence in what my body can achieve with regular practice.

Fast For Freedom Experience

I did not participate in the nine-day Fast For Freedom programme.

However, I have maintained my own long-term eating routine of having two meals a day and avoiding dinner. This has been a part of my lifestyle for several years.

Inner Transformation

Meditation was already a part of my life before I joined FFD. I have been practising meditation for a long time.

After joining FFD, I incorporated additional practices into my routine. OM meditation continues to be a regular practice for me, and I have also started doing Kapalbhati.

These practices have helped me remain calmer and more focused.

I did not take a one-on-one psychology session, but the FFD journey reinforced the importance of mental discipline alongside physical health.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Today, I feel good about the transformation I have experienced.

My HbA1c has come down from around 6.9% to 6.1%, I have lost approximately 5 kg, and I have been able to become medicine-free after a gradual journey.

My current routine includes two meals a day, regular meditation, Kapalbhati, Surya Namaskars and muscle-building exercises. I am continuing to work on my fitness and strength.

For me, the most valuable part of the journey has been the change in my mindset.

FFD has given me motivation and enthusiasm and has helped me develop greater confidence in my ability to take charge of my health.

I now look at my health with a more positive mindset. I have understood that lifestyle changes, when followed consistently, can create meaningful results.
