My Diabetes Story

My diabetes was detected during pregnancy almost 28–30 years ago.

I also had a family history of diabetes, so somewhere it was already there in the background.

But because it started at a young age, my journey with diabetes became very long and emotionally exhausting.

Over the years, diabetes slowly became a routine part of my life. I was dependent on insulin and had reached a stage where I was taking around 30 units every day.

At one point, my HbA1c had gone as high as 11.

Along with diabetes, my weight had also increased significantly. When I joined the program, I weighed around 91 kg.

I had never really understood what proper nutrition meant. I did not know portion control, food sequencing, or how different foods affected the body.

I used to eat whatever was available without understanding what was right for my health.

How Was FFD Introduced & What Made Me Choose It?

One of my family members, Mrs. Jyoti Vaidya, had already joined Freedom From Diabetes and experienced good results.

Looking at her progress gave me confidence that maybe I could also improve my health.

Even today, I mostly focus on diet control because intense exercise is not always possible for me.

Still, despite these challenges, I continued following the principles taught by FFD.

That consistency made all the difference.

Along with that, the constant support from the dieticians played a major role in helping me stay on track.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Even though I have certain physical restrictions after my accident, I still try to stay as active as possible within my limits.

I carefully do movements, exercises, and activities that my body allows safely. My focus today is not perfection, it is consistency and self-care.

Looking back, I feel grateful that I decided to take this step.

After living with diabetes for nearly 28 years, I never imagined I would one day be insulin-free, lighter, and healthier.

But today, I am living proof that change is possible at any stage of life.
