When I look back at my health journey, I realise how much can change when you become consistent with your diet, exercise and mindset. As a Type 1 diabetic dependent on insulin, I never imagined that I could bring such positive changes to my health.

Key Takeaways

  •  HbA1c: 9% to 7%
  •  Fasting blood sugar: 371 to 121
  •  Insulin: 30-8-18 units to 15-5-12 units
  •  Glycomet: 850 mg to 500 mg
  •  Weight: 63 kg to 56 kg
  •  BMI: 27.19 to 24
  •  Successfully climbed Tirumala Hill with ease

My Diabetes Story

My diabetes was detected in 2009. Both my parents had Type 2 diabetes, but I became Type 1.

Around the time I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, my diabetes was also detected. I was initially considered Type 2, but later became insulin-dependent.

When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was 9% and my fasting blood sugar was around 371.

I often felt extremely tired, had frequent urinary tract infections and high acetone levels.

My insulin requirement was also high—30 units in the morning, 8 before lunch and 18 in the evening.

How I Found FFD

I had heard about FFD before, but at that time the programme was offline in Pune.

With a young child, travelling was difficult. Later, when I discovered that FFD was available online, I decided to explore it.

I spoke to other members, discussed it with my siblings and attended the Discover Reversal Session.

The doctors answered my questions and gave me the confidence to begin.

My Reversal Journey

Following the FFD diet and exercise protocol brought noticeable changes.
  • HbA1c came down from 9% to 7%.
  • Fasting blood sugar reduced from 371 to 121.
  • Insulin reduced from 56 to 32 units per day.
  • Glycomet reduced from 850 mg to 500 mg.
  • Weight reduced from 63 kg to 56 kg.
  • BMI improved from 27.19 to 24.

I continue to take insulin because I am Type 1, but I am doing my best to manage my health and reduce my medication requirement under medical guidance.

Inner Transformation

I became more energetic and disciplined. Even when I had a setback with a severe fever during the programme, my FFD doctor supported me, and I returned to the protocol.

Athletic Identity

Just recently, I climbed Tirumala Hill. I had worried about putting pressure on my knees, but I climbed comfortably and without difficulty.

I have also joined a gym and started muscle-strengthening exercises. Cycling is next on my list.

Current Lifestyle

I practise pranayama, warm-ups and anti-gravity exercises and follow the FFD diet. I also continue the exercise routine and plan to begin cycling soon.
