My Diabetes Story

My diabetes was discovered around nine years ago during an annual health check-up.

Unlike many people, I did not have any major symptoms. No excessive thirst, fatigue, or other obvious warning signs. The diagnosis came as a surprise.

However, diabetes was not entirely unfamiliar to me. My father and grandfather both had diabetes, so there was a strong family history.

Even though I felt healthy, I knew I needed to take the diagnosis seriously and find a way to manage it before it progressed further.

How Was FFD Introduced and What Made Me Choose It?

My husband introduced me to Freedom From Diabetes.

He had joined the program before me and had already started seeing positive results.

Since it was mostly me who prepared the smoothies, sprouts, and meals at home, I was indirectly following parts of the program with him.

As we are just two people at home, whatever I cooked for him, I usually ate as well. Even before officially enrolling, I could see the logic behind the approach and noticed positive changes.

That gave me confidence.

When the opportunity came, I joined the Holistic Transformation Program with a very positive mindset because I had already witnessed its impact firsthand.

My Reversal Journey

When I joined FFD, my HbA1c was 7.15. At that time, I was taking diabetes medication totaling 500 mg daily.

What surprised me the most was how quickly things changed. Within just one month of joining the program, I was able to stop my diabetes medication completely under medical guidance.

My HbA1c gradually improved and came down to 6.3.

Along with better sugar control, several other health markers improved as well. My cholesterol profile became healthier.

Weight was never a major concern for me, but I still lost around 7 kg, moving from 58 kg to approximately 51.5 kg.

More importantly, I felt lighter, healthier, and far more disciplined than before.

One of the biggest lessons I learned was portion control. I used to occasionally overeat during mango season, winter delicacies, or family gatherings.

Through FFD, I developed a much stronger sense of self-discipline around food, which has helped me maintain my results.

My Athletic Identity

Exercise became an important part of my transformation.

For nearly five to six months, I followed the exercise protocols very sincerely and experienced significant benefits.

I have always enjoyed physical activity.

I am a runner, have played badminton for years, and I am also deeply involved in Kathak, which I have been practicing for over 13 years.

In fact, I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Kathak.

Kathak itself feels like a form of meditation. Once the music begins and you immerse yourself in the rhythm, everything else disappears.

I also practice yoga regularly and perform Surya Namaskars as part of my routine.

Even after a recent hairline fracture in my foot, I gradually returned to yoga and movement because staying active has become an important part of my life.

Inner Transformation

Inner Transformation added another valuable layer to my journey.

I had a one-on-one session with the psychologist, and one lesson stayed with me:

Consistency is more important than intensity. Walking steadily toward a goal every day creates far better results than trying to achieve everything in a short burst of effort.

I was already practicing meditation through Heartfulness, and I continue to meditate for 10–15 minutes daily.

As a former teacher and school counselor, I always believed I could solve my own problems.

But through this journey, I realized something important: sometimes you do not need advice you simply need someone who listens.

That realization helped me become even more aware of the importance of mental and emotional well-being.

Current Lifestyle & Reflection

Today, I continue to follow many of the habits I learned through FFD.

Despite frequent travel between Delhi, Jaipur, Bengaluru, and family responsibilities including caring for my granddaughter I try to stay active and mindful.

I may not always have the perfect routine, but the foundation is now strong.

Looking back, I followed the FFD protocols exactly as instructed.

Whether it was smoothies, meal timings, portion control, or exercise, I approached the program with the discipline of a science teacher.

And that discipline paid off.

The results were not just about numbers. They were about feeling healthier, lighter, more confident, and more in control of my life.
