I am Mamta Singh, a 54-year-old teacher from Meerut. With both my parents being diabetic, I had always been conscious of my health. But long working hours, a sedentary lifestyle and increasing weight made it difficult to stay consistent.
When my HbA1c reached 7.1, I knew it was time to take charge. I had tried exercise, fasting and crash diets before, but the weight kept returning. I needed a sustainable change.
That is when I discovered Freedom From Diabetes.
Key Takeaways
• HbA1c: 7.1 to 5.8
• Weight: 98 kg to 83 kg
• Lost 15 kg
• Fasting insulin: 15.4 to 5–6
• Medicine-free
• Completed FFF twice
• 51 Surya Namaskars
• Yoga, strength training, cardio and trekking
My Diabetes Story
After 45, I started regularly checking my HbA1c. When it reached 7.1, obesity was my biggest concern.
I had no idea how to properly balance carbohydrates, protein, portions and fibre.

How I Found FFD
I came across a short Instagram video featuring Dr. Malhar and attended the first session.
What attracted me was the holistic approach combining nutrition, exercise, lifestyle and mental wellness.

My Reversal Journey
FFD taught me that healthy eating is not about eating less, but about eating mindfully.
I learnt the importance of protein, salads, fibre, portions and the 25% formula. My fasting insulin improved from 15.4 to around 5–6.

Exercise became an equally important part of my transformation.
I progressed from basic movement and yoga to aerobics, strength training and cardio.
Today, 45 minutes of exercise is an integral part of my day.

One of my proudest achievements is completing 51 Surya Namaskars.
Fast For Freedom
I participated in Fast For Freedom twice, completing approximately 10 and 12 days.
I experienced around 5 kg weight loss each time, with approximately 2 kg returning afterwards.
I also experienced greater mental clarity, earlier sleep, high energy and improved discipline.

Inner Transformation
Meditation and Pranayama have helped me feel calmer and more centred.
I have learnt that health deserves to be prioritised, not postponed until it becomes a barrier to daily life.

Athletic Identity
My fitness journey has taken me trekking to Igatpuri and Lansdowne.
Earlier, I would become breathless while walking. Today, I can maintain my pace without breathlessness or pain.
I can move, travel and explore with much greater confidence.

Current Lifestyle
Today, my weight is 83 kg. I feel more energetic, mobile and capable.
The biggest change is that I have started travelling again after nearly 10–15 years and am discovering what my body can do.
